Reaching industrial decision-makers can prove
challenging and expensive.
- If you compete in multiple product categories, the
cost to advertise in the vertical directories can be
exorbitant.
- If you opt for broader advertising coverage in mass
media, costs skyrocket further and a large portion of
the budget goes to waste on spillover coverage to
segments of the audience that will probably never be
in the market for your products.
- The optimal approach enables customers and
prospects to find your products at the precise time
they're in the market and actively searching. It
involves 3 basic components.
1- Capitalize on free listings
2- Optimize your site for natural search
3- Network within targeted segments.

Yellow Pages
Before the web, Yellow
Pages used to be the
place to be. But while
they're still adapting to
the web, we've lost
track of all the yellow
books piling up in the
driveway. They're now
offering websites, cable
TV, phone service etc.
all of which might be OK
for a donut shop looking
forsome local generic
visibility.
Industrial Strength Marketing
MMTC-direct is about industrial strength marketing. Its about
eliminating waste and deploying the right tactics for specific
industries that deliver business results.
Process Approach
We use a systematic process to ensure that our client's
receive the proper exposure in the right directories and the
right product categories. We focus on the most viable and
relevant vertical / industrial directories.
Our process is designed to help clients navigate the
internet maze of business directories, vertical industrial
directories, shopping portals, and alleviate the sites that
only seek to intercept and divert traffic from its intended
destination.
Why Search is Growing
The open source approach of search
engines like Google will continue to succeed. They are already rendering many of
the traditional business directories obsolete. Directories are now paying significant
sums to get themselves ranked on the search engines. The Google approach
dominates because it systematically provides the most relevant, quality search
results for users. Win the audience and you control the channel.
"Free" Listings
It is beneficial to take advantage of FREE listings in most directories to
contribute to link popularity in the search engines. It should also be
noted that these directories offer free listings because the more
businesses they enlist, the more they improve their own weight with the
search engines. Free listings also give sales reps more fresh
prospects to call on for paid upgrades and preferential treatment.
We Must Adapt or Die The marketplace is dynamic and there is never one perfect solution. Our solutions are far from perfect. One difference is that we constantly monitor the industrial marketplace to identify trends and modify our approach as needed to meet our client's needs and changing consumer trends.

Evaluate Paid Upgrades Carefully
From an ROI standoint, its
difficult to justify the paid
advertising upgrades. These
should be carefully evaluated
before making a decision that's
right for your business.
A tangled web... the web has been entangled by by spammers and parasites which creates a lot of noise in the system. Before you invest thousands on industrial directories, see how you can execute an effective inbound marketing campaign for a fraction of the cost.

Paid vs. Free Listings
Most business directories list advertisers on the
basis of how much they paid for their listing. Its
essentially an online auction. The problem is how
much a business pays is no indication of the
quality of the product, or whether or not its what
an individual may be searching for. It makes
about as much sense as electing a president
based on how much they raise in campaign
funds.
How to Submit your site to search engines
To improve the link popularity of your site, what is important is not only
the number of links to your site, but also the quality of the links. No links
are as important as links from some of the major directories like
Yahoo!, the Open Directory etc. However, Yahoo! currently requires a
payment of $299 per year in order to list any commercial site. Paying
them $299 per year just to improve your link popularity is probably not
cost effective. But, the Open Directory is free, and you should definitely
get your site listed there and as many of the smaller (free) directories as
possible. You can get a list of such directories at this link: Directories
